Message from Pastor N. Madusolumuo

Beloved, you are invited to the JPCM April 2024 Gathering to seek the wisdom of fasting and prayer. Why do Christians fast? Matthew 9:14, 15, 17: 21 explain.
Fasting involves abstaining from food for spiritual reasons and to focus solely on God. As seen in Jesus' teachings, fasting is a vital practice that God expects his followers to uphold. Since Jesus fasted over two thousand years ago, Christians are encouraged to continue fasting until his return or until their passing (Matthew 6:17-18).
Regardless of one's anointing, faith, or gifts, fasting is essential for handling challenging life situations. Without fasting, stubborn issues persist. Jesus himself advocated for fasting, emphasizing its necessity to overcome certain challenges through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21).
In Acts 13:2-3, the apostles received divine direction after fasting and praying. Isaiah 58:6 illustrates the transformative power of fasting, aiding in soul-searching and spiritual growth (Psalm 35:13). Fasting and prayer yield numerous benefits (1 Timothy 4:8, Isaiah 58:8-9).
Let us not forget Jesus' examples of starting his ministry with fasting and prayer, and praying before choosing his disciples (Luke 6:12-13, Matthew 4:2, 1 Peter 2:21). To any Christian neglecting fasting, reflect on whose example you are truly following.
